sunset ride
One more for old time's sake, before the new year. Wild west antics from the gang.
2010 has been a crazy ride. Hope it's been good to yall.

stone horse
yesterday's sketching.
A bird footed soldier rides a strange horse with a mane the connects all the way to the tail. It is weathered and gray like stone.

apes
On friday Cef, Pav, Matt, Chris, and I went to the Lincoln Park Zoo!
We started off drawing a statue, and then drew lots of apes. It was a beautiful day to be outside.
This is a comp of my sketches that I just felt like shading in today.

Eric smells
Eric made Eric post this and forced Eric to talk in third person like Elmo! D:
Ah ha- we beat September's record of 3 posts with 4!
... ok we're good till next month.

It's All Eric's Fault
Eric has been getting antsy since we haven't posted anything in a while, so he asked me - no, commanded me - to post something, no matter how crappy. Since I don't want any more beat downs than I already get from him, I scribbled a quick Samurai Jack:

mech abomination
Do you know that show Voltron? Yeah this isn't Voltron but it was the inspiration for our latest collab! If you think this is crazy... you should see our transformation sequence.
Really, the combination of individual vehicles into a giant anthropomorphic robot has never been more strange... and beautiful.
Mechanics:
CEF - right side head, arm, leg, and rocket wing.
PAV - center head, torso, pilots (us!), pelvis, left hand with saber, scabbard, and back steam pipes.
ERIC - left side head, arm, leg, rocket wing, and back cannon.

top hat ghost
"cheer, cheer! All cheer the magical top hat!" ~ Tony Perkins
I drew a ghost (up top) and then Tony added some new features to the ghost, and then Cynthia recreated the original ghost so now there are two ghosts! They're pals!

defender
was doodling some sci-fi like buildings... and then felt like creating a character with an old school feel to it to place on top of the buildings... but then I liked this without the buildings...
so no buildings...

Who are those cool cats?
Watch out- it's a freaky 70's action hero themed collab, complete with crazy pants and ridiculous (ridiculously powerful) abilities.
I drew Pav, Pav drew Cef, and Cef drew me.
The action figure of "The Palette" also comes with an action hero dog named Quincy that rides in a jet. Ya dig?

Random Drawlins
Some doodles from my notebooks:
I know the masked wrestler was done on a day we had tacos for lunch - the rest, I have no idea.

Unlike Eric, I don't warm up or cool down - I just maintain a steady state of mediocrity at all times :)

face it
I suppose you could call this a cool down sketch instead of a warm up because I did it after all the drawing today. I sure hope these fighters can make it through. In this game... there are no continues.
Go for it.

Today I wanted to draw a lil more than just portraits in the warm up. Two of 'em ain't even lookin' at us.

Rockin' the Eye Patch Since 1965
I should be doing stuff for work tonight, but I'm burned out, so I drew a quick Nick Fury instead. My new grey marker was giving me grief, so it's sloppier than it should be:
you know...
A Sir Ryan W. lent me them to read and now this is what came out in today's warm up. +2 to doodling. If you can't tell who these folks are, either I did a terrible job translating them into my style or you haven't been caught in the storm! It's probably the former.

Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy
First - thanks to Eric for starting this blog. I'm reposting this from my sketch blog just to get something up here:
When I was checking the listings on TCM and saw this title, I knew I had to record it. Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy is a terrible 50's grade Z scifi movie from Mexico about a mad scientist who builds a "human robot" to fight an Aztec mummy so that he can steal the ancient treasure that the mummy guards. The robot and the mummy were a sad looking mish mash of cardboard and playdoh, but the actors in the movie were a lot of fun to watch.
The hero (I think he's doing the Mexican version of 'Blue Steel'):
His fidgety egghead sidekick (his giant glasses should have gotten the screen credit):
The mad scientist (more jolly than mad):
His fidgety scarfaced henchman (a little moisturizer should take care of that):

warm ups
Here are some warm up drawings I've done before getting to the real stuff... whatever that is. Have a great weekend folks!- Eric
with our powers combined...
...we are some sort of serbian-maltese-chinese hybrid super being that's 8ft. tall, wears glasses, and has luxurious dark wavy hair...
... yes.
Anyways, here are two fun collabs Pav, Cef, and I did together. The first is a bunch of western dudes around a campfire telling some stories, and the last is a Gotham gals themed one. If you can't tell who drew what by now, fear not, you have a long time to get used to our work... should we keep posting. -Eric
oy!
Here are three collabs Pav and I did together on various days. From the top, we have Pav as a superhero and me as a sidekick. We each drew ourselves. Second is a comic which was started by Pav, and then we took turns drawing in the panels (so subsequently all the left panels are Pav's and all the right panels are mine). Don't worry if you don't understand it because neither do we. The last picture is simply a "fill up the page and keep passing the paper back and forth" fun collab with a "Dark Tower" theme. It'd be too much to write who did what, but maybe you can tell. - Eric
art trade
The idea was to pick an unfinished sketch from one's own pile and give it to a fellow artist to finish! Pav got Cef's sketch and I got Pav's sketch. Cef got my sketch but it is drifting in space. - Eric
Top to bottom: Cef's sketch, Pav's completion of it, Pav's sketch, and my completion of it.
